All My Friends are Superheros : Andrew Kaufman Book Review

Rating 4.5 out of 5 stars.
This review can also be found at Goodreads & Booklikes.

“Okay, there's this thing you can do, a thing you can do like no other person on this planet. That makes you special, but being special really doesn't mean anything. You still have to get dressed in the morning. Your shoelaces still break. Your lover will still leave you if you don't treat her right.”

Tom isn’t a superhero. But his wife is. The Perfectionist is currently sat on a flight to start a new life and Tom’s got until the plane touches down in Vancouver to convince her he’s been with her the whole time, that he never left. That he’s not invisible. Just the average bump in the road any newlywed couple goes through at the start of a marriage, right?

Dead Simple : Peter James Book Review

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.

"The four friends walked to the edge and peered down. All of them were suddenly aware that nothing in life is ever quite as it seems when you are planning it. This hole right now looked deeper, darker, more like - well- a grave, actually."

If any of you know me and follow my Instagram you'll know that this is completely the opposite of what I would normally read. It's quite strange really, I love watching a good murder mystery or thriller on TV or film but not to read. My assistant manager at work was reading this and told me about it, she absolutely loved it and told me the premise: a groom is buried in the woods as a prank on his stag do and the only people who know where he is are involved in a car wreck...except for Mark. Mark is the one person who should know where the stag is but remains adamant he knows nothing.

My Neighbour Totoro : Hayao Miyazaki & Tsugiko Kubo Book Review

This Review can also be found at GoodreadsBooklikes.
Rating 3.5 out of 5 stars.

My Neighbour Totoro has to be one of my favourite films, it’s as cute as it is magical. So when I was gifted this book, I was ecstatic! I was expecting this to basically be the same as the film so it was a nice surprise to discover it was actually different.

My biggest disappointment has to be that Totoro is hardly in it, this book is told through Satsuki, rather than both sisters, which means we don’t get the encounter Mei has in the woods. Which is also our first encounter. We also miss out on their mini adventure when they get to travel as the wind after growing the seedlings in the garden.

Girl of Nightmares : Kendare Blake Book Review

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.

“In the sixth row of the theater, in the third chair in, Anna winks at me. Or maybe she just blinks. I can't tell. She's missing half of her face.”

I adored the first book and I loved this one just as much, again like the first book it's not crazily scary so if like me you're not into that this is a good read. Just maybe read during daylight hours...Set after the events of Anna, we open once again on a hunt but this time Cas is with his friends. I liked that little touch, both books mirroring openings but instead Cas is no longer alone in his world of death and supernatural. And for the first time ever he and his mum have stayed put.

Anna Dressed in Blood | Kendare Blake Book Review

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars.

"Anna was on her way to a school dance when she was killed. Someone cut her throat … They say she was wearing a white party dress, and when they found her, the whole thing was stained red. That's why they call her Anna Dressed in Blood."

I devoured this book. I threw caution to the wind and read something I wouldn't normally. How I loved this book!! First off this isn't that scary or gory, trust me with this. I don't do that sort of thing, so I decided this would be my daytime book and that way I wouldn't have the poop completely scared out of me.

Splintered | A.G Howard Book Review

Rating 3 out of 5 stars.
This review can also be found at Goodreads & BookLikes.

"Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. A family curse that stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, it's time for Alyssa to follow in her footsteps. To fix Alice's mistakes. To Wonderland."

A lot drew me to this book, Alyssas mum is locked away in a mental hospital and Alyssa herself is in danger of following right behind her. Plus Wonderland is real. Great!! This book went with the darker and more twisted version of Wonderland, which I think is a cool idea. Taking the odd yet picturesque place and turning it on it head to be disturbing.
